Driving to the Future Update
April 1, 2015
Last September, during the Foundation’s annual fundraising event Concours du Soleil, over $207,000 was raised - the most in the event’s history. Of that amount, $113,000 was reserved for the “Driving to the Future” technology laboratory/classroom.
Thanks to a collaborative partnership between the Cinco Amigos (organizers of Concours du Soleil), the Mayor’s office, Nusenda Credit Union, and UNM, the “Driving to the Future” technology lab is under construction in the “Epicenter” - the center focusing on workforce development, entrepreneurship and economic development. The Epicenter is located in the old Noon Day Ministries building in downtown Albuquerque, in the Innovation District.
The interior build-out of the Epicenter will be completed by mid-April and will be the site for the first technology camp of the year offered by Microsoft for underserved Albuquerque middle-school students.

2014 Concours du Soleil Nets $207,000 for Community Grants
November 7, 2014
Albuquerque Community Foundation announces its annual fundraiser, Concours du Soleil earned $207,000, an increase of 65% over the 2013 event. Organizers credit the increase to a crowdfunding project entitled “Driving to the Future”.
The goal for “Driving to the Future” was to provide funding for a permanent technology lab in the Innovation District of downtown Albuquerque. $113,000 was raised during the Concours du Soleil event for the purchase of desks/workcenters and seating for 50 students per class. A generous in-kind donation made by Jack Vigil of Harmonix Technologies will fund the elaborate internet system. The City of Albuquerque will provide the space.
Other grants awarded: A New Day, $17,000; Future Fund $8,000; UNM Foundation for the Formula SAE Race Team $13,000; UNM Foundation for the Law School $25,000 and Albuquerque Community Foundation $25,000.
We would like to thank everyone who was involved in another successful Concours du Soleil! From sponsors to car owners, volunteers to attendees, we believe that Concours du Soleil represents the amazing generosity of Albuquerque. As we calculate the proceeds, we will be sharing all the great moments we captured this weekend. Feel free to share your photos with us on Facebook, as we love to see the events through our guests camera lenses.
